Sourov Garai

Sourov completed his BFA in Painting from Visva Bharati University, West Bengal (2019), and his MFA from Shiv Nadar University, Uttar Pradesh (2021). His work is experimental and image-based, expanding across media such as drawing, painting, and digital media. Informed by observations of life, Sourov he composes images that explore the intersection of environment, society, and human experience. Sourov investigates the relationships between progress and decline in the natural and the social world, and the tension between scarcity and abundance experienced by people living within these dynamics. His recent exhibitions include Expanded Disciplinarity at Art Centrix Space (2024), First Take by Abir India (2023), and the SNU Alumni Group Show of Photography (2023). He was also a resident at Space Studio Residency in 2025. He was a resident artist at Dotwalk AJitara Art Residency in 2026.

Sourov currently lives and works in Kolkata.
